One of the most difficult things about studying for a PhD is that it can be expensive — and scholarships are few and far between. The government doesn’t provide the same kind of generosity for post-graduate degrees as it does for undergraduate degrees, and that can be rather discouraging. - SMART: The U.S. Department of Defense offers the Science, Mathematics, & Research for Transformation scholarship every year. While open to undergraduate students and masters students as well, the SMART scholarship can be a great source of funding for PhD students.
- Luis Meyer-Schutzmeister: This is meant for women who show ability as outstanding graduate students in physics. A great opportunity for women interested in science.
- AISES Intel Scholarship: If you are interested in the STEM fields, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship for Alaska Natives and American Indians.
- National Science Foundation: Offers stipends for graduate students hoping to do well in science fields.

Look for PhD scholarships offered for those who do research in specific subjects. A great way to fund your education.
